Like the title? Yeah, so I'm not very original. We have What I'm Wearing..., What I'm Loving..., What's In My House... was only natural, right?
Well, yesterday I took kitchen and living room pics and well, I was tired and hot so none of them are great, but that's not the point. I was going to start today with the living room because, well, it's the "main" room and the first big room you see when you come in the house. I went to upload them tonight and all the pictures over the couch were off center. Heh? How'd that happen? Yeah, sometime over the last few months the couch moved I guess? Tends to happen with hardwood floors, furniture does move easily. Anyway, WE CANT HAVE THAT so I went to start moving furniture (on my own because it WAS 9:00 pm meaning Jared was asleep) and I damn near ripped my pinky toe off on the coffee table. UGH. OUCH. So it's swollen and throbbing and let's hope not broken (not being dramatic, I've broken a toe before and this is reminiscent of that pain) so... there were no more pictures. I will try again in the morning. So with all that rambling...
... we'll start with the kitchen!
(I'm not listing EVERYTHING because 1) that will take too long 2) a lot of it has been gifts, so I'm not sure where it came from. If you're curious about something though, just ask, and I'll try to answer as best I can!)
View from the doorway. Why is it crooked? Why is the lighting weird? Look, you're going to drive yourself crazy if you start with those kinds of questions. Just a warning.
Fruit bowl - Target circa 2004 when I got my first apartment
Paper towel and napkin holder - Bed Bath and Beyond
All the fixtures and hardware are rubbed oil bronze. I have no clue/don't remember what the cabinets are but, uhh, I like them. The countertops are granite which I was a little worried about but so far have been easy to clean and haven't stained. I LOVE the undermount sink and will always have one if I can. My biggest love is that it's easy to CLEAN. I could keep talking about the sink but that's sad so I'll stop.
Love it, though.
Wine rack - Pier 1 (bought in 2005 and I swear I saw them last weekend when we were there!)
The far side overlaps so that there's a bar, so we have 2 bar stools over there which is great for seating. The 99% of the time we don't need the extra seating, this is the perfect "serving" area for food and drinks. Previous to this house we lived in an apartment, then a townhouse, both of which had really horrible galley kitchens. Those are absolutely awful if you EVER have people over, so we were thrilled to finally have room!
Coffee mug tree (matches the paper towel and napkin holder) - Bed Bath and Beyond
The house came with the stove, microwave, and dishwasher - all GE. We had to buy the refrigerator and opted not to get the "matching" one for the appliances the builders had already picked out. We didn't know if we'd love the appliances, so we went ahead and picked out a refrigerator we knew we wanted. It's a Samsung french door refrigerator and we love it. Weird to love a fridge? Probably, but when we lived in the townhouse we also had to buy a refrigerator (which means we bought 2 in 13 months but that's another story my bank account would rather not get into) and we got a side by side that basically sucked. We got a good deal on it and it's happily storing my husband's beer in our garage now but... yeah. Save up and get good appliances, you'll be happier. In my experience, anyway.
Tea kettle - Le Creuset
All towels and rugs - Target
Almost all the "little" appliances (toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, can opener) are Cuisinart and they "match" because it's what I registered for when we got married. Yeah, that didn't matter. I thought it did. I have no idea why. They've all lasted though!
Bar stools - Target
Placemats, napkins and napkin rings - Pier 1
The KitchenAid mixer is Jared's - not mine. My parent's specifically gave it to HIM one year for Christmas lol. He'd asked for it, so it wasn't weird. Yeah, I don't cook too much if that's not obvious :) The door goes to the pantry, probably pretty obvious but, yeah, whatever.
Memo/dry erase board - Target
Clock - Target
I don't like having stuff on my refrigerator, so we searched for awhile for a board that could hold things we would want to put up and that we could make lists on. Clearly we could have used something bigger, but this is working out ok.
Art work (I use the term loosely) - Target circa 2004 when I got my first apartment
Table, chairs and china hutch - Carlyle collection from Ashley Furniture
Placemats, napkins and napkin rings - Pier 1
Fine china - Lenox Continental
The table and chairs were purchased at a local store in Mississippi back in 2005, but I'm almost positive it's part of the Carlyle collection that the hutch is from, and you can get that at Ashley Furniture. The top 2 shelves in the china cabinet house 6 settings of our fine china and there are 2 more being stored down below. The bottom row has random stuff like the cake cutters and champagne flutes from our wedding, crystal candlesticks, and other small pieces of our china. The serving pieces to our china won't fit so they're also below with the extra china. All the china sat in boxes for 3 years in my parent's basement until we bought this house, so I'm just happy to be able to display a lot of it now.
Ok, so that's it for What's In My House... Kitchen. I really wasn't sure what people would want to see, so apologies if it's all over the place. Leave any questions in the comments, and hopefully tomorrow I can get What's In My House... Living Room up without any further injuries :)
