My nail polish organization post got a lot of great comments and a couple of questions about doing my own nails, so I thought I'd do a post about how I do my mani/pedi's at home. It's very simple!
Having my Homedics Bubble Spa Foot Bath is probably the biggest help in doing my nails at home. It's just like being at the salon. If I don't want to use this to soak my hands, I just use the sink - it works just as well.
Trim your nails if you need to and then use a glass nail file to smooth and shape them. Glass nail files are best, and they last forever.
I buff my nails next with the Sephora 4-Step Buffer. The 4 sides are:
I love it and it's an easy way to make your nails look great.
I don't clip my cuticles because that's bad for them. I just remove any dead skin in the previous steps, then use a cuticle pen to condition them.
At this point you can stop if you're not painting your nails. If you are, start with a base coat. I'm using Essie's 3-way glaze right now.
Next is 2 coats of whatever polish I've picked out.
Finally I put on Sally Hansen Dry Kwik to dry my nails faster.
That's it! Very easy to do at home if you want, plus you can do your nail in the middle of the night if you decide to. Not that I'd ever do anything like that...
