Thanksgiving Traditions

weheartit

Thanksgiving is this week in the US and I'm sure we all have our own traditions. Thursday we'll do double Thanksgivings, first with Jared's family then with mine, Friday is the Iron Bowl so a big football day for us, Saturday we'll put up Christmas decorations, and I'm sure some of this will stretch into Sunday. I imagine most people's are similar, but I'm still curious - how do you spend the holiday, or the holiday weekend (since I know it stretches out for several days for a lot of people)? What's your favorite Thanksgiving food? Do you watch the parade?

Let me know all about it :)

All I know is what i see in American films, but I am very interested to know, from real Americans, what you actually do, eat and feel over this Thanksgiving Holiday.
Un abrazo my friend.

We go to my grandma's Thanksgiving day and veg out. The Friday we get our Christmas tree and start decorating the house. and either the Sunday before or after we have Thanksgiving with my Dad's side of the family so we all don't have 2 dinners a day, haha

This year we are having a huge group come (15 people) to my mom's house for Thanksgiving! I am so excited about it, and my mom is actally trusting me enough to help with the cooking this year :) Just the pies, but hey it is something! And we always watch the football games on Thanksgiving- no parade for us.

Those Friends stills just made my heart so happy-I'd forgotten all about that purple apartment!

As for us, John and I are celebrating our first Thanksgiving just the way he's always dreamed of-all on our own, at home, so he can nap whenever he wants to! Since my Christmas shopping is already done, I don't have to brave any crowds on Friday!

This year I am going to a New Orleans and Mexican style Thanksgiving. It should be really interesting. It'll be the first year that I am not cooking, going to my parents or my grandmas. It should be interesting and lots of fun.

I usually do the double Thanksgiving thing, too. This year it'll just be my family since Joe's family is traveling to spend time with his grandmother. It will be nice to give my fam full attention. If only Christmas was this easy ;)

That is one of my favorite Friends episodes. Love it.

Turkey Day tradition for my husband and I is to be antisocial. We love spending it together and it's a good way to be thankful for having one another.

We are waking up Thursday morning to run the "Drumstick Dash" with some friends :) then driving an hour to spend Thanksgiving with my husband's family! Just like you, we're planning on spending Saturday and Sunday Christmas decorating and possibly doing some Christmas shopping, too, since we haven't even started!

Yayy! Can't wait!
