Leather Jackets

Leather jackets are one of those things that are a classic even though they're not always around. They'll always come back, slightly different from the last time. Right now I'm loving most versions of slightly cropped and/or motorcyle styled leather jackets. Really wishing I had one! Here are some of my faves from Bluefly:

This one is my favorite. It's exactly what I want from the collar, to the length, to the subtle detailing. While I love the look of the cropped jackets, I think this one would be more flattering on me. If only it was still in my size it would probably be on it's way to me...

Websites like Shopbop are my favorites to go to for inspiration. They carry tons of brands, all kinds of clothes, accessories - almost anything you could want. Shopbop carries lines in a pretty wide range price wise, so there are plenty of things I can't come close to affording but that doesn't bother me. Like I said, it's good for inspiration so if I see something I love but can't afford, I just file it away and try to keep an eye out for something similar that's a little easier on my bank account. Whenever I make little "lists" like this though I do try to keep it to things I can reasonably buy. I like this blog to be a snapshot of the ways I really do and really can put things together. Enough rambling - on to what I was looking at tonight. Jewelry!

Yes, I know there are three House of Harlow pieces. I got my first pair of House of Harlow earrings this week and I'm obsessed. I also know two of them are keys. I wouldn't wear them together :)

Mmm... (Or in other words - perfume)

I've written before about perfume, but hey - there are always more to try, right? It's always amazing to me how different scents can remind you of different things in your life, or bring back a memory, or just make you happy. There are some perfumes I've repurchased in the past, but for the most part perfume is like makeup to me. No matter how much I love it, there are 5 more I'm dying to try so it's rare for me to get back around to a specific perfume if I've already tried it. It does happen, though. Here are a few more I'm loving/really wanting to try right now:

Bergamot, Grapefruit, Orange, Freesia, Lily of the Valley, Lotus Flower, Pineapple, Watermelon, Grenadine, Sandalwood, White Musk.

Free-spirited. Feminine. Glamorous.

It took me 3 years to get back around to it (I told you it takes awhile), but this is a rare repurchase. I got my first bottle for Christmas in 2006 and was happy to receive another bottle this past Christmas. 2006 was the year I got married, so wearing this reminds me of our first year of marriage. All together now - aww :)

Pink Grape, Orange Flower, Mandarin, Blushed Plum, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Amber, Vanilla.

(Side note: Why did Juicy Couture name this Couture Couture? You sound like you're having a sneezing fit or something when you say couture 3 times in a row. Seriously. Do it.)

I got a couple of samples of this from Sephora and like all Juicy scents, I like it. Sometimes I find their perfumes to be a little strong but if you just wear a little bit it mellows out nicely. They last a really long time too, which I also like.

Bergamot, Cardamom, Pink Pepper, Mandarin, Iris, Bluebell, Ceylon Tea, White Musk, Vetiver, Cedarwood.

Stylish. Sensual. Energetic.

I'm almost positive this is the perfume my sister wears, so for that reason even though we live in different states I'll try to refrain from buying this until she moves on to another scent. A childhood of dressing similarly and constantly borrowing from each other has caused us to not like to match, or as she calls it "twink" now that we're grown. But I digress. Anyway, this strikes me as more of a fall and winter scent but you could of course wear it year round. There are no rules with perfume, sometimes certain scents just seem to fit better in particular seasons in my opinion.

Blackberry, Damask Rose, Sandalwood.

I'm not good at deciphering the different notes in perfumes (which is why I copy Sephora's descriptions), but I apparently like sandalwood. It's always listed in perfumes I like. This YSL scent is my new obsession. I've smelled it a couple of times now and it is love. Just one of those really nice perfumes that's not too strong but it's memorable at the same time. I really want to try this one, but I need to finish up at least one of the bottles on my vanity first.

Ok, so that's my current list. What are you wearing lately? What are you wanting to try? Let me know! :)

What I'm Wearing...

Dress - Old Navy
Cardigan - BCBG Max Azria
Leggings - Target
Shoes - Nine West
Belt - Limited
Earrings - Forever 21

I also carried my purple Coach purse seen in a previous what I'm wearing post, and that helped to add a pop of color to the outfit. It might not be that exciting, but sometimes you just feel like wearing all/mostly black and the other night was one of those nights for me. I think it can look effortless and chic, especially when you add in a couple of fun accessories.

Winter Skin - Bodywash

There's nothing worse in the winter than getting out of the shower and feeling like absolutely all the moisture has left your skin. I blame the chemicals and other irritants in most shower gels and lotions. Recently I discovered this:

Dreamwash is made for those with sensitive, itchy, rashy and sunburnt skin. It has soothing ingredients including calamine powder, aloe vera gel, rose and chamomile. It smells rather herby because, well, it's full of herbs. I'll admit I don't love the smell but I don't feel like it lingers all that much either. If you're worried about it, I would try to smell it before you commit to buying it (and if you live in Alabama that's going to be a problem because we don't have any Lush stores).

Unless you just have super sensitive, out of control, miserable skin (like me!), you can probably make do with Aveeno. Aveeno is a great line of products that you can find anywhere and can most likely handle the average winter skin problems.

Is it Spring yet?!

Winter Skin - Lips

Now that I have some ideas for new skincare products to try, I thought I'd do some more posts on Winter Skin and things that have been working for me.

I've been using this stuff ever since I got it in a Christmas gift set. Soothing is a great word for it. This balm has aloe vera to smooth and hydrate, and peppermint oil to calm and soothe. It isn't too sticky yet it has good staying power. You can put it on at night and still feel it on your lips in the morning, something I think is pretty essential when you're trying to fight dry lips. It comes in 4 different colors. I only have one so I can't speak for all of them, but I have a light pink one and it's although it's pink in the container it's not very pigmented. I really like this but it is a little thick to wear underneath lipstick or lipgloss. For that I like my Korres lip butter in Jasmine which I've talked about on here before.

The Victoria's Secret Soothing Lip Balm is $7, but right now you can get 2 for $12 or 5 for $20.

Winter Skin

I have extremely sensitive skin. When you add in the extreme cold, dry weather we've been having lately, my skin is basically miserable. In the past I've had to overhaul my hair and makeup routines because of how my skin reacted, and now I think I'm going to have to do the same with skincare. The majority of what I'm using just isn't cutting it. There are 3 things that do work ok though:

Biore Pore Strips
These probably aren't good for dry skin but they work, so I like them. I don't use them often, probably a couple of times a month.

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque
This stuff is dirt cheap and leaves your skin feeling refreshsed. Again, I don't use it often but I do like the way my skin feels when I use it.

Clinique Pore Minimizer
I don't feel like this works unless you use it daily, but as long as you do that you do see some results. I use it on my t-zone.

Ok, so as you can see I don't currently have a cleanser or moisturizer or, well, anything else that I love and feel like it works great so I need recommendations!

What's your skincare routine? What have you used in the past and loved/hated? What's on your list of things to try?

What I'm Wearing...

(My husband snapped the last picture as I was moving my arm. He needs as much help with his photography skills as I do with my posing :) )

Shirt - J. Crew
Cardigan - came from Belk, I think
Jeans - Old Navy
Shoes - BCBGeneration
Necklace - Banana Republic
Earrings - Forever 21, again I think. I have multiple pairs of gold hoops.

This is probably my least favorite time of year. The holidays are over, it's cold, it's just very blah and I always feel it. I need to get over that though and try to express some creativity with my outfits. I don't have to go back to school this month for the first time in forever because I graduated last month, so maybe I'll have a job to get up and get dressed for soon :)

Dogeared.com is one of my favorite websites. They create really nice personalized jewelry at pretty affordable prices. I can pretty much promise if you check them out you'll find something you like. Be sure to check out the messages on the cards! Here are some of my favorite Dogeared necklaces:

I have that one, but I also want a second one so I can layer them like this:
So cute!

Dogeared is a great place to check out for gifts. Or just a gift for yourself :)
