What I'm Loving...

I'm exhausted. Anyone else? I don't have the energy to say much more. Got any fun weekend plans? Let me know what they are:)
Here's what I'm loving:

Christina Aguilera - Bionic
I heard "You Lost Me" on satellite radio and was immediately hooked, so I previewed the whole Bionic album on iTunes. Well, I liked A LOT of the songs so I immediately bought it. I'm not a big pop music person, but this is great! I love Bionic, Woohoo, Prima Donna, Lift Me Up, All I Need and of course You Lost Me. Go listen to You Lost Me at least if none of the others. Here's the video:

Zaxby's Birthday Cake Milkshake
I can't find a picture of it. Grr, Zaxby's.
Have you seen the commercial for this? Heaven help me. It tastes like birthday cake batter, has sprinkles on it, and they put chocolate whipped cream on top. It's disgustingly sweet. Actually, I couldn't even finish it. Ok now I'm slightly regretting putting it on the list except I'm not because it was DELICIOUS and if I wouldn't hate myself for it, I'd go get another one. But I would. Hate myself. So I won't. Get one. Maybe. Ok, go ahead and judge me.

FML
If you're not visiting FMyLife every single day - you're missing out. I don't know what else to say.

Texts From Last Night
Oh yes I do - immediately after visiting that you should head directly to Texts From Last Night because it's possibly even funnier. I go to these websites pretty much every day and they crack me up. Jared and I will sit and read the funniest TFLN to each other and my sister and I BBM them to each other, like, several times a week it seems. So. So. Hilarious.

Ok, so that's What I'm Loving right now! What about you?

What's In My House... Living Room

Thank you for all the lovely comments on yesterdays What's In My House... Kitchen post! Glad everyone seems to be enjoying them :)

Since I've whined about it on Twitter (including posting a pic last night), here's a toe update: um it still hurts. And it's bruised and swollen. I broke a toe 2 years ago, and this looks similar and hurts worse, so I would guess I've fractured it. There's nothing you can do for a fractured toe except elevate it and tape it, so I'm saving my co-pay and not going to the doctor since I've been down that road before. Even though I've done this before, I welcome suggestions for healing the toe faster! I'm a bridesmaid in one of my best friend's wedding a week from Saturday so I'm slightly panicked at the thought of having to stand and walk on it so much by then. Luckily the dresses are floor length and she already said we could wear flats, so I'm happily welcoming that opportunity. Heels are out of the question right now!

... Enough of that. Here's the living room!
(Like before I'm not listing everything, but please let me know if you have any questions about anything!)
Wall hanging - Target
View from inside the front door
Vase and filler - Pier 1
This is what I call the "awkward" wall. Ideally, some sort of hall tree or console table could go there, but we weren't in the market to buy any more furniture right now (we've bought a lot since we put the contract on the house last August), so I like this for now because, well, 1) I love it 2) if we get something else for this spot, there's plenty of other places this could go. I always try to keep that in mind when I'm buying things for our home.
This is just to give you an idea of how high the ceilings are in this room! I love it, but it is a pain to cool in the summer with the heat index over 100. This is why you'll notice my blinds are never fully opened :) Oh, please also notice the speaker installed in the ceiling. There's a matching one on the other side as well. They were part of Jared's Christmas present and he happily spent a Saturday drilling holes in the ceiling to install them and is quite proud. They're part of the surround sound. I think. I know nothing about the technology in our house. I'm married to an engineer, people.
Couch, loveseat, chair and ottoman - Ashley Furniture
Coffee table - Carlyle collection from Ashley Furniture
End tables - Target, but we bought new knobs and put them on ourselves to match the coffee table. Not that you can see any of the knobs but I'm telling you - they match.
Area rug - Pottery Barn
Throw pillows - Target
We bought the couch, chair and ottoman back when we lived in our apartment in Mississippi, then found the matching loveseat last year at Ashley Furniture when we bought the house. They had all the pieces though, so I know you can get it there even though that's not where we got the original pieces. We bought the end tables in the apartment because we needed something small and didn't want to spend a lot of money. I was wanting to upgrade and get matching end tables when we got the coffee table and entertainment center, but what I was looking at was almost identical to what we already had except that it had knobs that matched the new furniture so - we just went and replaced the knobs.
Picture frames - Target
Some of you know and some of you have probably done the math, but Jared and I were 23 when we got married. He was less than a year out of college, I was still not finished and about to start back to college - point being, I had to get a little creative with the decorating. So you might not have a lot when you first get married, but you know what you DO have? Wedding pictures. Like, 800 of them. Use them. And put them in frames from Target. All of those frames and having the pictures printed at Walgreen's cost, like, $120. Go and try to find some artwork that takes up that much space for that price. Go on. Try it and get back to me. Yeah, you'll be decorating with your wedding pictures, too. (And yes, I'm still using them almost 4 years later. We both hate taking pictures so I highly doubt we've taken 10 other pictures that are fit to be framed since then.)
Painting - Pier 1
Going through that archway, our bedroom is to the right and then the linen closet is right ahead, if you were wondering. The painting was bought recently at Pier 1. It's abstract and it had celestial in the name so - I was sold. I really like it and I think the colors look great in the living room.
You want to know what's driving me nuts about this picture? The shelf of that end table has coffee table books because for years we didn't have a coffee table, so that's where I kept them. We have a coffee table now and the books have just been sitting there! OMG. Seriously bothering me now. Oh, you'll notice in every room there's nothing on the windows except the blinds. Pretty much the first thing we did (before we even moved in, no lie) was have the windows measured and had wooden blinds custom made for every window in the house. I love them. I recommend them. I'm not putting window treatments up. Ever.
 Mirror - Target
Candle holder and candles - Pier 1
Frames - from L to R - Pier 1, gifted, Pier 1, Pier 1
The mantle is one of those weird things that doesn't seems like a big deal but it took me forever to finish it. So it's not changing for a long time. This is a gas fireplace so the switch to the right turns the fire on - well, when the pilot is lit. Oh yeah, the house was designed with the cable over the fireplace, something that is very trendy right now. That's fine, but I personally didn't want that, so when we did a walk through with the builder I asked him to move it. The builder ignored me and told Jared we should leave it in case I changed my mind. Jared looked at him and said "You don't know her. She's not going to change her mind. Move it."
Love him :)
Entertainment center - Carlyle collection from Ashley Furniture
Candles - Target Liberty of London collection
I was going to try to list the TV and other electronics but let's be honest - I don't care. Oh, and I don't even know what we have. I barely know how to turn things on. If you're curious about anything, feel free to ask and I'll pass on the questions to Jared. He'll be thrilled someone cares since I don't. Oh and as you can see - I won and the builder moved the cable. And I haven't changed my mind. And I won't.
Views from the 2 back corners. I guess that's about it!

Alright, so that's What's In My House... Living Room. I'm planning on doing 2 more of these to finish up the house next week :)

What's In My House... Kitchen

Like the title? Yeah, so I'm not very original. We have What I'm Wearing..., What I'm Loving..., What's In My House... was only natural, right?

Well, yesterday I took kitchen and living room pics and well, I was tired and hot so none of them are great, but that's not the point. I was going to start today with the living room because, well, it's the "main" room and the first big room you see when you come in the house. I went to upload them tonight and all the pictures over the couch were off center. Heh? How'd that happen? Yeah, sometime over the last few months the couch moved I guess? Tends to happen with hardwood floors, furniture does move easily. Anyway, WE CANT HAVE THAT so I went to start moving furniture (on my own because it WAS 9:00 pm  meaning Jared was asleep) and I damn near ripped my pinky toe off on the coffee table. UGH. OUCH. So it's swollen and throbbing and let's hope not broken (not being dramatic, I've broken a toe before and this is reminiscent of that pain) so... there were no more pictures. I will try again in the morning. So with all that rambling...

... we'll start with the kitchen!
(I'm not listing EVERYTHING because 1) that will take too long 2) a lot of it has been gifts, so I'm not sure where it came from. If you're curious about something though, just ask, and I'll try to answer as best I can!)
View from the doorway. Why is it crooked? Why is the lighting weird? Look, you're going to drive yourself crazy if you start with those kinds of questions. Just a warning.
Fruit bowl - Target circa 2004 when I got my first apartment
Paper towel and napkin holder - Bed Bath and Beyond
All the fixtures and hardware are rubbed oil bronze. I have no clue/don't remember what the cabinets are but, uhh, I like them. The countertops are granite which I was a little worried about but so far have been easy to clean and haven't stained. I LOVE the undermount sink and will always have one if I can. My biggest love is that it's easy to CLEAN. I could keep talking about the sink but that's sad so I'll stop.
Love it, though.
Wine rack - Pier 1 (bought in 2005 and I swear I saw them last weekend when we were there!)
The far side overlaps so that there's a  bar, so we have 2 bar stools over there which is great for seating. The 99% of the time we don't need the extra seating, this is the perfect "serving" area for food and drinks. Previous to this house we lived in an apartment, then a townhouse, both of which had really horrible galley kitchens. Those are absolutely awful if you EVER have people over, so we were thrilled to finally have room!
Coffee mug tree (matches the paper towel and napkin holder) - Bed Bath and Beyond
The house came with the stove, microwave, and dishwasher - all GE. We had to buy the refrigerator and opted not to get the "matching" one for the appliances the builders had already picked out. We didn't know if we'd love the appliances, so we went ahead and picked out a refrigerator we knew we wanted. It's a Samsung french door refrigerator and we love it. Weird to love a fridge? Probably, but when we lived in the townhouse we also had to buy a refrigerator (which means we bought 2 in 13 months but that's another story my bank account would rather not get into) and we got a side by side that basically sucked. We got a good deal on it and it's happily storing my husband's beer in our garage now but... yeah. Save up and get good appliances, you'll be happier. In my experience, anyway.
Tea kettle - Le Creuset
All towels and rugs - Target
Almost all the "little" appliances (toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, can opener) are Cuisinart and they "match" because it's what I registered for when we got married. Yeah, that didn't matter. I thought it did. I have no idea why. They've all lasted though!
Bar stools - Target
Placemats, napkins and napkin rings - Pier 1
The KitchenAid mixer is Jared's - not mine. My parent's specifically gave it to HIM one year for Christmas lol. He'd asked for it, so it wasn't weird. Yeah, I don't cook too much if that's not obvious :) The door goes to the pantry, probably pretty obvious but, yeah, whatever.
Memo/dry erase board - Target
Clock - Target
I don't like having stuff on my refrigerator, so we searched for awhile for a board that could hold things we would want to put up and that we could make lists on. Clearly we could have used something bigger, but this is working out ok.
Art work (I use the term loosely) - Target circa 2004 when I got my first apartment
Table, chairs and china hutch - Carlyle collection from Ashley Furniture
Placemats, napkins and napkin rings - Pier 1
Fine china - Lenox Continental
The table and chairs were purchased at a local store in Mississippi back in 2005, but I'm almost positive it's part of the Carlyle collection that the hutch is from, and you can get that at Ashley Furniture. The top 2 shelves in the china cabinet house 6 settings of our fine china and there are 2 more being stored down below. The bottom row has random stuff like the cake cutters and champagne flutes from our wedding, crystal candlesticks, and other small pieces of our china. The serving pieces to our china won't fit so they're also below with the extra china. All the china sat in boxes for 3 years in my parent's basement until we bought this house, so I'm just happy to be able to display a lot of it now.

Ok, so that's it for What's In My House... Kitchen. I really wasn't sure what people would want to see, so apologies if it's all over the place. Leave any questions in the comments, and hopefully tomorrow I can get What's In My House... Living Room up without any further injuries :)

Sephora by OPI Chic Prints for Nails

The other night I went to Sephora and I picked up some Sephora by OPI Chic Prints for Nails. Last night I decided to give them a try.
Here's how it went:
The package. I got the Chrome Lace print.
The supplies:
Sephora by OPI Chic Prints for Nails
rubbing alcohol and cotton swab to clean nails
scissors to trim the decals to fit your nail bed
crystal nail file to file the edges once the decal is applied
Picture of what's included in the package.

How to use them:
-Start with bare nails.
-Clean with rubbing alcohol to remove oils.
-Choose the best size for each nail.
-If strip is too wide, trim with small scissors.
-Rub the strip for a few seconds to warm.
-Peel off strip and apply to nail, with rounded end close to the cuticle.
-Rub strip over entire nail starting from the center working out toward the sides.
-Smooth down completely.
-Press material over edge of nail and use an ultra fine crystal file to file off excess.
-File in a vertical motion.
-Rub strip again to ensure adhesion and to remove any bubbles.

Ok, let's go:
One nail down. At this point I figured out this is somewhat hard to do by yourself. It's easier having a 2nd person to help trim the decal to your nail and trim again once you've applied if there's some excess. Not impossible to do yourself as I did this one myself, but it was much easier and went a lot faster with help. Now as most of you know, I live with the husband and the dog, so Jared had to be recruited to help. He was thrilled, thrilled I tell you.
The finished result.
Some close-ups.

So, there you go. You can get Sephora by OPI Chic Prints for Nails online and in Sephora stores. They're $15 which I think is a little pricey, but considering you get 16 plus there's plenty of extra, I think you can easily get 2 full uses out of them. Of course you don't have to put them on every nail, and that would extend the use, too. The package says they only last 2 days, which I would find disappointing, but in reading reviews most people are getting a good 7 or so days out of them if you apply clear nail polish to your nails after a couple of days, something I had already thought of, so I'll be trying that to make these last longer.
So far, I'm loving them though!

What I'm Wearing...

I Tweeted on Friday that I didn't know what we were doing that night but I want to wear something cute, wear my hair wavy, and have bright eye makeup.
Let's see how it turned out:
Dress - American Eagle
Cardigan - Express (It should shame me how often I wear this particular cardigan seeing that I own an obscene amount of them. It doesn't.)
Leggings - Express
Shoes - White House Black Market
Earrings - American Eagle
Ring - BCBG Max Azria

Mission accomplished (kinda, sorta?). I kept the eye makeup not TOO crazy since we were just going out to eat and running around for a little while and I try to keep embarrassing Jared to a minimum. (Oh who am I kidding, I just do what I want and after almost 4 years of marriage he's gotten used to it. Kinda, sorta.) There is a more vibrant look that I saw a tutorial on and want to try, but I have nowhere to wear it. Might do it just to blog about. We'll see. Thoughts?

We ended up going to Pier 1 Friday night, bought some stuff for the living room, and I have now determined it's finished (we bought this house almost a year ago - oops) so the house posts will start soon! Yeah, I said posts. You didn't expect me to keep it to one post, did you? Of course you didn't. We know each other better than that by now.

I was tired and blah and totally thinking about doing a lazy post for today, but as always, you all left so many AWESOME comments on Friday's What I'm Loving... post that, well, I couldn't do a lazy post.
So here you go. Hope you enjoy, and thank you as always for... everything :)

What I'm Loving...

How does the week feels like it crawls on, yet Friday always seems to jump out and surprise me? Like, oh, it's the weekend AGAIN? Not saying it's a bad thing, but Monday and Tuesday never seem to go by fast, then Wednesday and Thursday turn into a blur or something. Maybe it's just me.
Here's what I'm loving:

Mad Men
Oh my goodness. I'm OBSESSED with this show. Obsessed. I haven't seen every single episode so I feel the need to catch up, but I can do that I suppose. Season 4 premieres on Sunday on AMC at 10/9c. Can't. Wait. Anyone else love the theme song, too? Yeah it's my ring tone on my BlackBerry now :)

L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Facial Cleanser
I somewhat randomly decided to switch up my skincare routine a few weeks ago, and this was the cleanser I decided on at Target. I admit I thought the little scrubber they include on the packaging was a gimmick, but it actually works so I'm still using it. The cleanser smells good, doesn't irritate my skin, and leaves it feeling very refreshed. I don't remember what I paid, but it was Target so it wasn't much. Consider me happy. Might do a more thorough review on this later if there's interest. We'll see!

Shrimp Quesadilla
*this isn't a shrimp quesadilla, but that's oddly difficult to find a picture of
If you don't know me you're probably thinking "That's an extremely weird thing to put on a list of what you're loving, you freak" and if you do know me you're probably thinking "Yeah, that makes sense. You had one the other night, didn't you?" Yes. I had one on Tuesday. And I have one almost every week. Because we go out for Mexican almost once a week. Hey, it used to be more but we exercise the world's smallest amount of restraint now. Oh, and we don't live in an apartment across the street from a favorite Mexican restaurant anymore. Yeah, that probably explains it better.

Guitar Hero 5
I like pretty much any music related game we have for the Wii. This, Just Dance, the American Idol game... I mean, we don't own that. Anyway. First of all, they're just fun. Second of all, I can beat Jared at music related games. Now that just adds to the enjoyment. Guitar Hero 5 has some really good songs too like Plug In Baby, Ex-Girlfriend, Smells Like Teen Spirit, What I Got - so many good ones, plus you can sing so, why wouldn't you love this? Exactly.

In my last What I'm Wearing... post (which so many of you left amazing and awesome comments on - thank you!) it was suggested that I do a house post. Any interest in that? What would you want to see? Kind of an overview of each room? Let me know please! :)

Are any of you lovelies doing What I'm Loving... posts of your own? You totally should. Mrs. Origami has started doing them and you guys know I LOVE to read them, so leave a link in the comments if you're doing them, too! If you want to and haven't started yet, what are you waiting for? It's fun. Promise. I wouldn't lie.

Ok, so that's What I'm Loving right now! What about you?

Coral Makeup Look

Here is the coral makeup look I've been obsessed with. Actually, I never do the same exact thing twice, so this is a version of it. Here we go:

Products Used:
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Nude
Laura Mercier Undercover Pot 2
Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Cabo Coral
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Nectar
NARS eyeshadow duos in All About Eve and Kalahari
Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash mascara
MAC lipstick in Jazzed

Brushes Used:
MAC 190
MAC 187
MAC 129
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Brush
Laura Mercier Camouflage Powder Brush
MAC 239
Sonia Kashuk blending brush
Shu Uemura eyelash curler

Ok, so it probably looks like a lot but it takes about 10 minutes.
1. Apply foundation primer with fingers. Apply tinted moisturizer and blend in with the 190.
2. Using the LM brushes apply the concealers and powder underneath the eyes.
3. Use the 187 to apply the BB pot rouge. Use the 129 to dust the shimmer brick across the tops of your cheekbones.
4. Using the 239 place the left color from the Kalahari duo all over the lid and the right color in the crease. Use the left color from All About Eve as a hi-lite color on the brow bone and inner corner. Blend with the Sonia Kashuk brush.
5. Curl lashes and use MUFE mascara.
6. Put MAC Jazzed on lips.

I think that's it! It's a simple, summer-y look :)
