How To Apply Bronzer

Bronzer can get tricky. Done right you have a gorgeous glow but done wrong, uh, you look orange. Not good. It's actually really simple - you just need the right bronzer and the right tool to apply it.

NARS Laguna Bronzer

NARS Laguna gets my vote for most universally flattering, but use whatever works best for you. When you're applying it, go light and hit the "high points" of your face (cheekbones, temples, bridge of your nose, etc), basically anywhere the sun would hit your skin. If you do end up with too much use  a little loose powder to blend it out.

MAC 150 Large Powder Brush

Next is using the right brush to apply it. The bigger, the better. A smaller brush is going to give you too much product and it won't look natural. A big, fluffy brush allows a lighter and more natural application. The MAC 150 is a great choice. Sonia Kashuk makes a large powder brush as well if you're looking for a better price.
What's your favorite bronzer? I know in my Benefit Boxed Powders post a lot of people mentioned Hoola.

I have a few idea for other How-To posts I want to do, but if you have any ideas please leave them in a comment!

I've always been way to chicken to try bronzer...but your tips are really good. I think I'll have to give it a whirl (I actually bought some a few months ago and it's just sitting, unused in my makeup cabinet).

I have always wanted to wear bronzer but never figured out how to and was afraid of winding up as an ompa loompa!

excellent tips! i've "bronzed" a few times with horrific results, but i think the key i was missing, is the big fluffy brush.

thanks for the advice. :)

I find bronzer so intimidating because I'm super pale but your tips are perfect! I'd love a tutorial on your glitter eyeliner.

Great how-to! This will definitely help me with applying bronzer without looking like an ompa lompa.

What a great how-to! In general, I stay away from bronzer (no one's buying that with my lily white skin!) but I see far too many girls walking around with that tell-tale sweep of shimmering bronzer!

I don't use bronzer, but think I should. I'm so pale I have a hard time figuring out what bronzer to buy that won't make me orange. I'm so on board with a smoky eye how to! Love these!

These are great tips! I don't wear makeup very often, though I kind of want to start more. I used to wear only bronzer, never blush, but then one day I just decided to switch. Now I swap them out depending on the season, usually bronzer during late spring through early fall, and blush the rest of the time.

I like Bare Minerals' Warmth but you have to use it sparingly or else you come off looking rather dirty. And no one wants to look like Pig Pen from Peanuts! :)
