A couple of weeks ago, the winter blues were hitting me especially hard. Then I was looking at the Sephora catalogue one night and saw this image:
See their take on a french manicure on the end? Loved it. A big complaint with french manicure is that it's tacky, so why not just run with that and just make it really tacky?
Or better yet - why not just add glitter?
So I did.

I don't keep my nails long (kept them short for so many years playing piano, it's just habit now I think - plus it just looks better to me), so the glitter "tips" extend past the actual white part of my nail. Given the colors I used, its not like you can tell so I think it works fine. I did it free hand, which you can tell with the close up pics but again, when you were looking at it from a distance I think it was fine. Is it perfect? No. But it was fun :)
If something in a magazine or on TV or wherever looks fun and inspires you, find a way to do it yourself and just go for it. I smiled every time I looked at my nails for a week. Seems like a good way to pull yourself out of the winter blues to me!
I'm off to enjoy my last day as a 27 year old and gear up for Viva La Birthday Weekend. How does one do that? I think I'll go shopping. Seems like a good plan.

Such creative nail decoration!
When having the winter blues I get myself painterly yellow flowers for my table and have a banana in the morning. One would be surprised to know the happy effect yellow has on one's mood;-)
awesome, the last thing I could ever do would be that but it looks amazing :)
OOh these are such a fresh, fun take on nails!
I always keep my nails short from playing piano too! I can't stand long nails at all!
It's so fun!
I love it.....my nails are about the same length...I cant operate if they are much longer, lol..gotta be able to BBM!!!!

haha i would totally try this! i have had my frustrations with glitter polish because it is near damn impossible to remove, but if i applied it to only 1/3 of my nail, it would only be 1/3 of the hassle! anyways i think it looks great and totally appropriate for bday week!

Love the glitter - it looks great!
I really love this - such a cool idea and I adore the dark glitter shade that you used for the tips!
I usually start off my birthday with shopping so I'm all for others doing the same.

I think they're adorable! I don't mind French manicures as long as they're short; yours is perfect!
