Friend Friday - Blog Pet Peeves

Friend Friday
The Fashion Beauty Friend Friday group was created by Katy over at Modly ChicEvery week Katy puts together a set of questions and on Friday if you want to participate, you answer them on your blog and link back up at Modly Chic
weheartit
List the 5 things that drive you crazy about blogs you visit.
1. Word Verification - Do I even have to elaborate? I hate it. You hate it. Everyone hates it. Get rid of it.
2. Not Being Easy To Contact - Your e-mail should be easily visible on your blog or better yet, attached to your comments. You need Twitter. A Facebook page is great for connecting. You shouldn't be hard to find when you're a blogger!
3. Loud Auto-Playing Music - Music on a blog doesn't necessarily bother me, but loud music does. I know that usually can be controlled by the volume of your speakers so that mainly leaves the auto part. Why not leave your music player but not have it automatically play when someone visits your site?
4. Simple Spelling Errors - If a quick spell check would have fixed it, it's annoying. Also not knowing the difference in your and you're, or there, their and they're - annoying.
5. Pilfering Content - Sometimes it's next to impossible to say exactly where your outfit or post inspiration came from. (Like if you're wearing jeans, or write a post on red nail polish - pretty impossible to say "Hey! Here's where I got that original idea!") So while it can be difficult, there are plenty of times when you do know where you got the idea, and you should give credit. If it's a gray area, do the right thing and give credit. If you have no idea where something came from, be up front about that as well and willing to change that if someone steps forward to let you know where the idea, picture, etc. did come from. It's not that hard.

This week's FBFF was inspired by Beautifully Invisible's 10 Things That Drive Me Crazy About Your Blog post. You definitely need to read it :)

If you're interested in FBFF, go to Modly Chic for more information then e-mail Katy if you want to join the group.

Is my email linked to my comments? I'm scared.

Also - I hate word verification. Annoyballs.

Furthermore - ditch the tunes. My speakers have damn near lit on fire more times than I'd care to count.

While we're on the subject I've almost lit on fire from all the times I've seen my ideas quite plainly pilfered from twitter and used on a blog or vice versa. The worst is the famous bloggers or climbers who blatantly steal thinking because they're moving or "have arrived" they're exempt. Really sends me into orbit.

Well, on that pleasant note I'll be posting tomorrow. Made the most fantastic chocolate peanut butter bars, fell asleep and awoke to one of the cats taking a lick of tomorrow's post. Not so much.

Word Verification can lick my n*ts, and I don't even have them so that's how serious I am. It's SO annoying... if you're really that concerned, please only show comments once you've approved them, please and thank you.

Yes, I also hate music on websites. One thing if it's a choice another to force it upon. I hate.

And pilfering content, to be quite honest, I don't really notice that too much. Perhaps I'm oblivious but I feel like for the most part, bloggers tend to kinda get into a "genre" and everyone posts about the same thing with their own takes on it. However, when I know something is definitely directly from another blog or I was just inspired by it, I definitely give credit always, always. There's no shame in not so who cares?

I also hate blogs that don't limit subjects per post- like they write on a huge long thing and then when you think it's done they go into something else huge. Not that I don't care about their word or content but break it down to 2 or 3 posts, I can take it all in so much better.

For the most part though, I love all the blogs I go to. Each different but I visit because I want to. That's really the name of that tune.

Haha, I just disabled my auto-play! I also hate the word verification; it makes commenting back blogs a lot slower!

I think what bugs me the most on word verification is when it's on smaller blogs. Unless you have had big spam issues in the past, take it off. Most people do no need it. Ugh.

I don't come across a lot of typos reading blogs, but the music things really bothers me!

Thanks for the shout-out doll... I can't believe my post inspired a whole FBFF topic!

I really enjoyed your answers. Your first 3 picks are amongst my biggest pet peeves as everyone already knows!

I have rarely come across someone pilfering content, but do think that if someone was an inspiration it should be noted!

Great answers!

Word verification is one of the worst things ever invented. When I began my blog, I had it because I thought it was a good idea -- until I actually started blogging on a regular basis and realized how awful it was. It seriously makes me want to kick a monkey.
Seeing as how I am a grammar Nazi, grammatical errors PISS me the fuck off. Seriously, proofread your posts. It isn't that difficult.
And I swear to God that I will hunt a bitch down and murder his/her family if I ever find somebody stealing my content.

You're a genius.

L O V E this. Turn off the music, if you must put some sort of buffer on your comments, simply chose approval, and ALSO give someone credit where it's due. See also: their, they're, there. Dammit.

Music is annoying. Don't mind the verification thingy though. I see the positive in blogging - a much nicer way to be inspired. Have a nice weekend.

Haha I so love your bluntness. It's refreshing. And you're right on! Word verification, not being easy to reach, music and pilfering content are right up there on my list too.

Have a great weekend, sweetie!

Boo to word verification and content stealing (did see a foreign site that stole my content and got it shut down, it could have at least used more fun posts!)

Of about 10 or so FFBF posts I've read today, every single one had word verification listed as a pet peeve :) I agree about the music, stop exposing me at work people!!

Haha! Spelling mistakes are the worst! But I will admit, typing on the ipad has left a few spelling errors here and there! ;)

LOL...I loves it! Straight, snappy, and to the point!! Uggghh...word verification gets me everytime-especially when I'm trying to comment from my iPhone. It's like come on and let me leave the freakin' comment already. I need to get better at Twitter and Facebook. How do you keep up with it all?
