Visual Friend Friday - Where Do You Blog?

Friend Friday
The Fashion Beauty Friend Friday group was created by Katy over at Modly ChicFor the first and third week of each month Katy puts together a set of questions and on Friday if you want to participate, you answer them on your blog and link back up at Modly ChicOn the other weeks, FBFF will be doing a Visual Friend Friday.

For this week's Visual Friend Friday, Suze from Miss Vinyl Ahoy is hosting and wants to see where we blog from.

Most of the time from right here:
in our living room, but sometimes from here:
in our bedroom since I'm always up late anyway.
We have a home office, but the only time I've blogged from there is when my laptop was being repaired over a year ago. I guess that's somewhat weird now that I think about it, but I'm more comfortable in the living room or the bedroom so, why not?
Where do you blog from? Now I'm curious if I'm weird or if everyone else does this, too :)

If you're interested in FBFF, go to Modly Chic for more information then e-mail Katy if you want to join the group.

What I Organized... Abby's Closet

You probably guessed that a lot of what I worked on in Abby's new apartment was organizing.
And I did. Her new apartment has a custom built walk-in closet. Are you getting a good look at that? I think I teared up.
Dresses to the left
Button downs on the top rack, cardigans on the bottom
Shoes, drawers with tanks, camis, plain t's, long sleeves, sweaters, more shoes, then clutches, wristlets, and wallets.
Sleeveless tops on the top rack, short sleeves tops on the bottom
Jackets, blazers and coats on top, pants and skirt on the bottom
Totes on a Pier 1 hook
Belts on the end, scarves in the middle
Laptop/largers bags, hats and winter accessories on the shelf

Everything is organized by category and color. It took 3 trips and about 50 new hangers to get it done (the way I wanted). I think I should turn the organizing thing into a job because at least that way I can charge, right?

What I'm Loving...

We're getting ready to head out of town in a few days, but more on that in a minute.
Here's what I'm loving:

Project Runway Season 9
It's been forever since Project Runway was on, so I've been counting the days until season 9 starts (it's 1 more day if you're not as obsessed as I am). While it hasn't been as great the past couple of seasons as it was the first few, it still remains my favorite reality show and I can't wait for it to be back.

Coney Island Cotton Candy
I know, I normally gravitate towards bold nail polish colors in one way or another, so it's strange that I'd love a nude nail polish but I do. In the summer with a tiny bit of a tan, it's hard to beat a peachy nude like Coney Island Cotton Candy.

The Beach
We're leaving in a few days for a vacation to the beach and I can't wait. It's been a couple of years since we went which I feel is way too long. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a lot of important decisions to make, like how many pairs of sunglasses I'll need and which magazines to take.

Keane - Somewhere Only We Know
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go, somewhere only we know,
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know?

I've been listening to this on repeat for weeks, but now that I'm putting this together it's pretty perfect for a beach playlist, don't you think?

Ok, so that's What I'm Loving right now! What about you?

What's In My House Abby's Apartment...

Remember when I did posts showing you What's In My House...? (And again at Christmas?) No? Well go look. But first, here's a look at how I spent my time in Nashville. Kinda. Except not just me, of course.
I'm still exhausted, here are the pictures:
Center pillows, vase and filler, and wall hanging are new and from Pier 1. New curtains from Target. We have that same red vase and I swore to Abby that it's so simple to decorate. Just buy a little filler, fan it out, all done.
It fell ALL the way in the vase. The Engineer decided we should buy a bag of sand to take up space in the vase, then the filler wouldn't fall. Well, that's true - it does.
It takes 40 pounds of sand.
Nothing about last weekend was simple.
(Abby can never move that vase.)
New curtains from Target. This is the office/dining room. You're probably thinking the obvious - how is this a dining room? Your sister doesn't have a table to eat at.
She used to have a table. That would be one of the items the movers lost.
I can't think of anything new here, but there's pictures of everything. Enjoy.
Bedding is new but I'm not sure where she got it, bookshelves are from Target, curtains are new but my Mom bought those and I'm not sure where, wall hooks/necklace holder is from Pier 1.
There was a lot of work in here. The movers lost her old bookshelves, so we had to buy those. The movers scratched up the nightstand (it used to be blue/green) so we had to repaint it. The chest of drawers got completely re-organized (no pictures, you'll just have to take my word for it) and the closet was completely organized. But that necessitates it's own post. Trust me.

You might be looking at the pictures and thinking yeah, it's an apartment, with furniture.
You don't understand.
Until Friday at 1:00 this apartment had 2 folding chairs and an air mattress. That's it. All of this was brought in, bought, assembled, hung, and organized in roughly 48 hours. Everything that the movers broke or lost (and that's a somewhat lengthy list) has been fixed or replaced except for a dining room table.
So, like I said. I'm exhausted. I think I need another nap. Yes, plenty of people were involved with this. I'm still going to complain about exhaustion.
(It looks really good though, right? Right.)

Empty Apartment

Waking up from this nightmare
How's your life, what's it like there?

Take you away from that empty apartment...

If you haven't noticed, I've been MIA the past few days. To briefly, briefly recap:
- My sister got a new job in Nashville and signed a lease on an apartment over Memorial Day
- The interstate moving company picked up her things in June when her old job ended
- She started her new job on July 5 with the movers scheduled to come on July 6, the day she could move in her new apartment
- Movers didn't show up on the 6th
- Movers didn't show up on the 7th
 - Movers didn't show up on the 8th
- You want me to keep doing this?

They finally showed up on the 22nd. Of July. A month after taking her stuff. So I've been in Nashville with my parents and Jared since last Thursday unpacking, organizing, and going on shopping sprees to replace what the movers lost and broke.
Basically all hell broke loose around here but hopefully some semblance of normalcy will return. In the meantime, I'm horribly backed up on all things blogging so bear with me while I try and play catch up...
...before we go out of town again on Saturday.
(Is it sad I'm hoping for WiFi on vacation? Don't answer that.)

Closet Clean Out* Update

*If you're confused, "Closet Clean Out" is just my name for trying to keep all my things organized and to make sure I'm using everything I'm buying. Eventually it'll hopefully extend to actually renovating our master closet, but it turns out that's pretty expensive so, who knows when that'll actually happen.

Not too long after I was patting myself on the back for re-organizing the 2 bathroom drawers, I opened one of my dresser drawers one night and found these:
A lovely pair of J. Crew pajama pants with the tags still on them. That's nice.
I had no recollection of buying J. Crew pajama pants. That's not good.
Luckily, the blog helped out. When did I get J. Crew pajama pants? Oh. That time. Alright, so I bought a pair of pajama pants and they sat in my drawer for almost 7 months before I found them. But I did find them, took the tags off, and wore them, and none of that ever would have happened before the massive clean out. So - small progress?

Yeah, yeah. I still have a lot of work to do.

What I'm Wearing...

Remember how I was complaining yesterday about this being the "nothing" part of summer?
Don't ever say things like that.
Tomorrow I'm leaving for Nashville to maybe, finally, get my sister moved in. I'm there for a few days, coming back for a few days, then we're off to the beach. Then it's August. Flights, hotel, transportation to and from the airport, and various restaurants have been planned for Vegas but I'm sure once we're back, it'll be a whirlwind of finalizing plans until that trip for our anniversary.
Then it's September.
Where the #&$* did the summer go, again? And why was I complaining about nothing going on?
Dress - Libertine for Target, Leggings - Express, Belt - Limited, Shoes - Nine West, Clutch - Express, Earrings - Melinda Maria, Ring - BCBG Max Azria, Nail polish - Sinful Colors 24/7 and Pinky Glitter
Yeah, I basically wore this outfit a few months ago but... at least 3 things are different this time. Massively huge bonus points if you recognize any of them. It's like a game. Except there's no prize and you probably don't care if you win.
I wish the nail polish would show up better in these pictures since it's another $4 Manicure. 2 Sinful Colors polishes from my last haul and I'm pretty obsessed. Oh, and in case you missed it on Twitter or in the above pictures:
4 inch heels! (I'll give you that one, that's 1 thing that's different.) It's been a rocky road back to heels, and the last time I tried to wear "serious" heels I didn't make it out the door. Wedges are fine, heels up to about 3 in. are fine, but a lot of my shoes (like these) are still difficult, and I guess they always will be (I hate admitting that). I think I just need to be careful about what shoes I add to my collection, picking ones that will get a lot of wear and not sit around for months at a time.
We'll see how it goes.
Now I should probably go pack since I'm leaving around lunchtime...

What I'm Loving...

Is it me, or is this the "weird" part of summer? No holidays for awhile, no September magazines, fall TV, or football yet. It's just kind of - nothing. Just me? That's always a possibility.
Here's what I'm loving:

MAC Girl About Town Lipstick
I decided that a bright lipstick would be the perfect way to spice up, well, almost everything and I was right. I went with MAC's Girl About Town and I love how easy to wear it is. You'd think something that looks so bright pink the tube wouldn't work so well, but it does. You can go full out, apply it lightly like a stain, or put whatever color gloss you want over it to change the color. Endless possibilities!

Kate Spade Twirl
I tried a sample of this recently and there's something about it that's very familiar. It must remind me of some other perfume but I can't figure out which one. Either way, I like it and I'm thinking the bottle would be pretty gorgeous on my vanity.

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden
This has been on my wish list for awhile, so I jumped at the chance to get a sample of it with my last Sephora order. Another one of the millions of reasons I love Sephora - the samples are good enough sized that you can usually try something more than once, giving you a perfect idea of whether or not you want to purchase the full sized product. And I do. Not a surprise.

South - Nine Lives
You talk about forgiveness
I've yet to find the meaning
I miss you at the best of times
You help me walk that fine line
I've loved this song for years and was very frustrated that it had never gone on iTunes. So I decided I loved it enough that I ordered the CD. A CD. What year is this again? Definitely worth the purchase, but now I'm having a crisis over realizing we have hundreds of CDs and they're likely never coming back. I need to sell them or something, right? Or have I missed the boat on that? I'm always late to the party.

Ok, so that's What I'm Loving right now! What about you?

More Organizing (More Like Re-organizing)

After my last trip to Ulta I came home to an upsetting realization - I was out of room in my nail polish drawer.
Part of Closet Clean Out (an ongoing/never ending project) is trying to keep all my things organized. It's not perfect, but I'm making progress. When I did my massive clean out and sale, I culled a good 20 bottles of nail polish. Having a whole drawer devoted to them, there's no reason to not have room and not have them organized. Seeing how I had my nail polish organized and hair accessories organized, it seemed pretty obvious - flip them.
I don't know why this didn't occur to me before. Obviously I have less hair accessories than nail polishes, so it makes sense for them to be in a smaller organizer. Head bands won't fit in it, but there's still room for them, they're easy to see - works fine for me.
So. Much. More. Room.
Apparently one of the keys of organization is also re-organizing to maintain room for everything. Or maybe this a problem only I have. Who knows.
Either way, I'm happy that it's a better use of space in both drawers. And I have plenty of room to add to my nail polish collection.
That's not how my mind works. No. Not at all...
