It's just sugar, just a pill to make me happy...

I assume most everyone watched the Oscars last night? Thoughts? Who was your best dressed?

Sunny morning
You can hear it
Siren's warning
There is weather on both sides
And I know it's coming
Shirt - J. Crew, Sweater - Express, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - BCBG Max Azria, Ring - House of Harlow, Sunglasses - Chanel

Can you make it better for me
Can you make me see the light of day
Because I got no one
Who will bring me a
Big umbrella
So I'm watching the weather channel
And waiting for the storm

I wanted to do the sweater/dress thing with leggings and boots like I did the first time I wore it, but the brown ones instead, but I couldn't make it happen. This proves me to me I am not good at planning outfits. It's much easier for me to grab one thing I like, then build around that. When I try to plan an entire outfit, it just doesn't work well.

It's just sugar
Just a pill to make me happy
I know it may not fix the hinges
But at least the door has stopped it's creaking

Turtleneck - Gap, Jeans - Old Navy, Belt - Steve Madden, Shoes - Gap, Sunglasses - Express, Earrings - gifted, Bracelets - Melinda Maria

I got friends
They're waiting for me to comb out my hair
Come outside and join the human race
But I don't feel so human

With this I took my normal approach. I grabbed the turtleneck since I've only worn it once in 30x30. It's a red/orange with a lot of red, so I did the red shoes. On the Red Carpet coverage last night they said a lot of people won't wear orange because it clashes with red. Well, people should re-think that because I think this looks pretty good.

You won't want me
Hanging around the birthday pony
Even though it's just a game
You know we are the same
But you're the better faker.

28

28. Nice number, hmm? Some people supposedly don't like their birthdays, or telling people how old they are, or some such ridiculousness.
I'm not one of those people.
I'll be 28. On March 11. And you know how much I love Christmas?
I love my birthday way more.

Get ready.

Friend Friday - Blog Awards

Friend Friday
I recently joined the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday group created by Katy over at Modly Chic.
Every week Katy puts together a set of questions and on Friday if you want to participate, you answer them on your blog and link back up at Modly Chic.

This week is the nominations for the FBFF Blog Awards. I'll let you know about the voting for the finalists after they've been selected. Ok, so here are the categories, with who I picked and why:

Creative Juices - most creative
Anyone who is the mastermind behind 30 for 30, has done it multiple times, and has convinced hundreds of other bloggers to do it as well gets my vote for most creative. Actually all those reasons probably put Kendi in several categories easily, but I think 30 for 30 is pretty freaking creative.
The Real Deal - authenticity
Read Carrie's blog just once and you'll feel like you know her. Read it continuously and you'll feel like she's your real-life friend. To really get a sense that you're getting to know someone just from their blog is pretty rare, but Carrie is able to do that. Oh, and she's hilarious.
Spark Notes - most helpful
Ever wondered how to Build A Better Blog? Vahni figured it out and has it compiled over at Grit and Glamour for you. Vahni has written post after post chock full of links, tips, and advice, and you definitely need to check them out if you haven't.
Newbie - best blogger less than a year old
It's hard to believe Collette has been blogging for less than a year given the splash she's already made. She has Twitter Tuesday on her blog, she's founded The Fashion 411, and I can't wait to see what she's got up her sleeve next.
Can You Hear Me Now - most connected
One of the most amazing things the BonBon Rose Girls have done is create the Rosebud Network. So many bloggers have become Rosebuds and gotten to know other bloggers through the network - they've done incredible work!
If I had a Hammer - best DIY
Amanda has lots of DIYs on her blog, and also has A.Co Designs, a whole shop of her creations! Everything she makes and designs is gorgeous!
Tribe Leader - blogger who leads others and brings bloggers
together
Katy is the founder of Friend Friday. In a relatively short amount of time, a large number of bloggers have joined and participate weekly. It's a fantastic network of bloggers and Katy has done an amazing job with the group.
Practically Perfect - most fashionable
Tiffany has impeccable style and every single picture on her blog is gorgeous since she and her husband have a photography business. I always look forward to her posts and she's recently started a YouTube channel so you can check out her vlogs, too!
Paint by Numbers - best beauty blogger
With her blog and her YouTube channel, Temptalia is one-stop shopping for anything beauty related. With reviews, tutorials, and an in-depth look at thousands of products, it's pretty much a must read if you love makeup.
Renaissance Woman - best all around blogger, fashion, beauty,
lifestyle
There's a small handful of blogs I read before I ever started my own blog that inspired me to start mine and Maegan's is one of them. She has outfit posts, Maeg-It-YourselfHair-To's, and plenty more. Her blog is always a great read!

If you want more information or want to join FBFF, there's more info on Modly Chic and you can e-mail Katy to join the group!

You could be the one who listens to my deepest inquisitions...

My parents are back and have picked up Coco so we're back to just the one crazy dog instead of 2. No worries, the craziness abounds in Coco's last 30 for 30 appearance.

You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You could be the one I'll always love
You could be the one who listens to my deepest inquisitions
You could be the one I'll always love

Sweater - Express, Jeans - Old Navy, Belt - Limited, Shoes - BCBG Max Azria, Bracelet - Express, Earrings - American Eagle, Sunglasses - Chanel

I'll be there as soon as I can
But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before

Coco was in almost every single picture. And look, she looks right at the camera sometimes. It all went downhill, though...
I thought I'd try a different side of the backyard. That didn't really work out for me.
Are you getting an idea of the running around here? That's pretty much how it was the whole time. It should have been a video. And I have an obsession with belting my outfits now. Running out of things to wear, so I'll just belt it all I guess.

First there was the one who challenged
All my dreams and all my balance
He could never be as good as you

Shirt - J. Crew, Cardigan - Express, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - BCBG Max Azria, Necklace - Express, Sunglasses - Chanel

You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You should be the one I'll always love

It'd be nice if there was one picture that wasn't blurry, or had crazy lighting, or dogs running around like maniacs. It'd be nice but it doesn't exist. It'd also be nice if I liked this outfit, but I don't. I've worn it before, too many times probably, so, whatever. I'm over it. I need more inspiration. And better pictures.

I'll be there as soon as I can
But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before

Before you

Organization Help?

Ok, no 30x30 or What I'm Loving... today. (Sorry.) I need help, so of course I need all of you to provide that  :)

This involves organization and our bedroom. First, a quick overview of the bedroom ihere.
Ok, here is how my accessories are organized and here is an overview of all my makeup.
Basically after spending years getting everything organized just right, I'm ready to overhaul it.

I've lost my mind. Stick with me.

We have the bedroom set, and my vanity is antique but it "goes" with everything, as do the shelves. It started when I saw this:

Hayworth Jewelry Armoire
Um, gorgeous right? So, that would be my new jewelry organization. It'll probably go on the small wall where the shelves are. I think it would be ok in our bedroom, but not by itself. There's a whole Hayworth collection (of course there is, Pier 1. Of course there is.) So, 2 pieces of it will "fit" better. I've come up with 2 options.

Option 1
Hayworth Vanity
Adding the vanity. The current vanity and the shelves would have to go in other rooms. A big problem is that the Hayworth vanity comes with that one measly drawer. Go look at my current makeup collection and you'll see why that's a problem. I could add ANOTHER piece from the collection to house the makeup, but now this is just really getting out of hand.

Option 2
Hayworth Upholstered Bench

Add the bench. It would go at the foot of our bed. So you'd have the bench, keep the antique vanity, and the new jewelry armoire going where the shelves are. Shelves would go in another room. I'm leaning towards this option because it's cheaper and buying a new vanity when I don't need one that won't even house my makeup collection doesn't make a lot of sense. Even to me. But will this look ok? Is it crazy to have so many different kinds of furniture in one room? So, welcome to the dilemma. I need help, suggestions, whatever you've got. Bring it.

I'm just a stranger, even to myself...

It was 76 degrees here over the weekend. Don't be jealous. 76 degree weather when you didn't pick any summery clothes for the WINTER 30 for 30 is pretty miserable. Do. Not. Enjoy.

I woke up this morning with a funny taste in my head.
Spackled some butter over my whole grain bread.
Something tastes different, maybe it's my tongue.
Something tastes different, suddenly I'm not so young.

Shirt - J. Crew, Jeans - Old Navy, Scarf - Express, Shoes - BCBG Max Azria, Earrings - Gifted

I'm just a stranger, even to myself.
A re-arranger of the proverbial bookshelf.
Don't be a fool girl, tell him you love him.
Don't be a fool girl, you're not above him.

I was really close to rolling up these jeans because of the heat. I didn't. You're welcome.

I never thought I could love anyone but myself.
Now I know I can't love anyone but you.
You make me think that maybe I won't die alone.
Maybe I won't die alone.

Dress - Express, Leggings - Express, Shoes - GAP, Earrings - Limited, Necklace - Limited

What have I become?
Something soft and really quite dumb.
Because I've fallen, oh, 'cuz I've fall-fallen, oh 'cuz I've fall-fall-fallen
So far away from the place where I started from.

Trying again with this sweater dress. Better, I think, but still missing something. Probably something I didn't include in my 30. I feel like I need to confess I bought shampoo and conditioner yesterday. And we got new lamps for our bedroom. But those are LAMPS and they're for the house, so that doesn't count. I don't think. Did I break the shopping ban? I'm so confused. I don't even know who I am anymore.

I never thought I could love anyone.
I never thought I could love anyone.
I never thought I could love anyone,
But you, but you, but you, but you, but you
But you make me think that maybe I won't die alone.
Maybe I won't die alone.

All that I know is I'm breathing now...

I'm learning a lot from 30x30. Like I'm tired of my hair and need a change. Is that the kind of thing I was supposed to get out of this? I think so.

The storm is coming but I don't mind
People are dying, I close my blinds

All that I know is I'm breathing now

Shirt - Express, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - GAP, Earrings - Melinda Maria, Bracelet - House of Harlow

I want to change the world
Instead I sleep

I want to believe in more than you and me

But all that I know is I'm breathing
All I can do is keep breathing

All we can do is keep breathing now

Turtleneck - GAP, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - GAP, Belt - Limited, Bracelet - Forever 21, Earrings - Gifted

All that I know is I'm breathing
All I can do is keep breathing.
All we can do is keep breathing

We made a lot of progress with the never ending clean out over the weekend. Maybe it'll actually end before the year is over.

All we can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing
All we can do is keep breathing now

Perfect Day

images via weheartit
Laying around in bed with my Macbook, magazines,  and coffee is basically my idea of a perfect day this time of year. Ok, maybe any time of year. Jared is taking Monday off, so we're having a somewhat relaxing weekend. I say somewhat because we do have the 2 dogs running around, and we're still working on the massive, never-ending clean out. I've made trips to the consignment store this weekend, Jared's electronics are up on eBay, the Blog Sale page is undergoing more work (almost all the nail polish is sold! Thank you! I'm thinking makeup next. Thoughts?), and we still have Jared's Lego and baseball card collection to contend with now that it's all in the garage.
Hmm. The weekend doesn't feel so relaxing anymore. We're having a date night tonight which is much needed.
What about you? What's your perfect day?

16/30 & Friend Friday - Body Image

Ok, to clarify, in yesterday's post there were 2 outfits and 1 dog. Judging from the comments, maybe that wasn't clear? One outfit was a gray shirt, black infinity scarf and black boots. The other was a blue shirt, navy infinity scarf, and brown boots.
Oh. Point taken.
Now to further confuse you, today is one outfit and 2 dogs. Ta-da! It's like I'm a magician or something. Ok, it's not like that at all.
Shirt - Banana Republic, Jeans - Old Navy, Scarf - Missoni, Shoes - Gap, Earrings - Express, Watch - Michael Kors, Sunglasses - American Eagle
I finally wore the leopard flats again (only the 2nd appearance they've made in the 30x30), and you can (kinda, sorta) see them better this time. Maybe. Moving on.
Here's how most of the pictures turned out. Dogs labeled to cut down on confusion.

Friend Friday
I recently joined the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday group created by Katy over at Modly Chic.
Every week Katy puts together a set of questions and on Friday if you want to participate, you answer them on your blog and link back up at Modly Chic.

1. Since you started blogging has your image of yourself changed?
I've always hated having my picture taken and seeing pictures of myself. I know, why did I ever decide to do this? Anyway, I think taking outfit pictures for the blog has helped me be slightly more comfortable seeing myself. It's a work in progress, though.
2. Are you self-conscious about any aspect of yourself? If so, do you go out of your way to avoid it or do you post it/talk about it anyway?
Oh, I'm definitely self-conscious. I don't guess I avoid it, but I don't really post about it either.
3. Based on how you are feeling now, what do you think the future holds in the evolution of your body image?
I'm not sure. I hope that it'll continue to improve, of course.
4. Do you photograph yourself for your blog? If so, how do you feel about the experience when you're having your picture taken? If you choose not to post pictures of yourself, what prompted that decision?
Like I said, it's not something that I love but I've started to get more used to it. I think it's good for me and I'm glad I have an "excuse" to take more pictures and be more comfortable with the process.
5. What would you want every person who struggles with body image totake to heart?
I chose the picture to go with these questions for a reason. Everyone struggles with body image in some way, but like everything else in life it becomes easier if you can have a good sense of humor about it.

You could taste heaven perfectly...

30 for 30 days 14 and 15. Starting after today that pictures are going to get even more interesting with 2 dogs running around in the backyard. I know you're looking forward to it.

and i knew then it would be
a life long thing
but i didn't know that we
we could break a silver lining

Shirt - American Eagle, Cardigan - Express, Jeans - Old Navy, Boots - BCBGeneration, Scarf - Express, Earrings - Express, Ring - BCBG Max Azria, Sunglasses - Chanel

and i'm so sad
like a good book
i can't put this day back
a sorta fairytale
with you
a sorta fairytale

with you

Pretty obsessed with the sequin infinity scarf. I need about 100 more outfits to wear it with.

and i ride along side
and i rode along side
you then
and i rode along side
till you lost me there
in the open road
and i rode along side
till the honey spread
itself so thin
for me to break your bread
for me to take your word
i had to steal it

Shirt - J. Crew (Jared's), Jeans - Old Navy, Scarf - Express, Boots - BCBG Max Azria, Earrings - House of Harlow, Sunglasses - Chanel

and i was ridin' by
ridin' along side
for a while till you lost me
and i was ridin' by
ridin' along till you lost me
till you lost
me in
the rear
view
you lost me

So, a couple of things:
1. This is Jared's J. Crew shirt. I've noted that I'm obsessed with them. Here's your proof.
2. I didn't wear these boots all day. This was infusion day, so I wore my Uggs to the appointment. I'm a rebel.

way up north i took my day
all in all was a pretty nice
day and i put the hood
right back where
you could taste heaven
perfectly
feel out the summer breeze
didn't know when we'd be back
and i, i don't
didn't think
we'd end up like
like this
