What I'm Wearing...

Tank top - J. Crew, Cardigan - Limited, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - Express, Sunglasses - Chanel, Earrings - Melinda Maria, Bracelet - Vintage
Ok, so I'm calling the black thing a "cardigan", but I don't know what it is. It used to be a wrap shirt, many years ago. But styles (and my size...) have changed and I'm not wearing shirts that length. Ever. Again. Moving on. So I cut the ribbon/wrap things off of it and threw it over a tank top, and now I don't know what it is. I think I like it. I'm not sure. I need to work on this more and think things out before I make decisions that involve hacking off a good portion of the clothes. This turned out slightly better than when I took scissors to my CK jeans in middle school to try and make cut offs. (How old do I sound right now?)
When you pick your sister up at the airport late Friday night, and it's after midnight when you get home, and your husband says "Just take the pictures tomorrow, you look really tired right now." 1. Inflict pain on your husband 2. Don't listen because you and your now 2nd day curls won't look better tomorrow.
Trust me.
There are always several pictures that look like this. You'd think a little 11 pound dog who demands roughly 20 hours of attention a day could let you snap a few pictures of your outfit for your blog.
You'd be wrong about that, though.

What I'm Loving...

Multiple requests on yesterday's post for me to actually go through with a rainbow manicure. Do you people really think if you validate my crazy ideas that I'll act on them?
Because I probably will. You know me too well.
Here's what I'm loving:

Slatkin & Co. Island Colada Candle
I don't love coconut by itself, but this candle is pineapple, coconut and orange, and ginger. It's like a tropical vacation. Or a tropical drink. Look, I don't really care, it just smells amazing.

Chloe Sunglasses

I might have a small obsession with sunglasses. But 1) they're gorgeous and 2) I wear them every day so - the obsession will live on. Chloe sunglasses in the color raspberry? Pretty hard to say no to.

Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray
John Freida is on to something lately with the new hair products. This is heat activated, so you spray your hair, dry it, curl or flat iron it (a case where the more heat, the more results) and you hi-lites show up better. Genius.

Too Faced Sephora Beauty Insider Palette
When you get 500 Beauty Insider points with Sephora, you get a Limited-Edition product. I don't always love the products, so I wait until something comes along that I'm really interested in. Recently it was this Too Faced palette - 8 shadows from 4 of their palettes and a sample of Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Love! It's not on Sephora.com anymore, but if you have enough points and are looking to get this it might still be in the stores.

Ok, so that's What I'm Loving right now! What about you?

Summer Nail Polish

I've noticed something the past few weeks when I've been picking colors to paint my nails:
From L to R:
OPI Dim Sum Plum
OPI Y'all Come Back Ya Hear?
Chanel Mimosa
Essie Turquoise and Caicos
Essie Coat Azure
Essie Lilacism

The 4 in the middle have been constant go-to's, and the 2 on the end are still favorites from last year. Dim Sum Plum and Y'all Come Back Ya Hear? are on my toes right now, actually. Maybe I need to work on some kind of rainbow manicure?
Maybe not.

Friend Friday - The Blogging Effect

Friend Friday
The Fashion Beauty Friend Friday group was created by Katy over at Modly ChicEvery week Katy puts together a set of questions and on Friday if you want to participate, you answer them on your blog and link back up at Modly Chic

we♥it

This week's questions have to do with how blogging has changed your perspective on what you wear.

1. Since you began blogging do you notice a change in the types of things you gravitate towards while shopping?
Not particularly. Blogging and reading blogs makes me more aware of certain trends since the blogosphere is quicker than magazines and TV :)
2. Do you find, as a fashion blogger, that you dress differently from your family and friends? Do they comment on that?
I wear things that my friends and family probably wouldn't wear but I don't think it has anything to do with me being a fashion blogger, it's just me being - me. And yes, they'll comment on it.
3. What’s the weirdest fashion that you secretly like, even if you aren’t bold enough to wear it?
I'm not thinking of anything. If I like something, even if it's weird, it's not a secret. I'll wear it!
4. Looking at current trends – what would you like to try but need to build up the courage to do?
The main reason I usually won't wear something is because it's not flattering on me - not a lack of courage. Life is short. Wear what you want.
5. Toot someone’s horn – what fashion blogger out there inspires you with her bold fashion choices?
I'll take some of Carrie's sartorial ability to throw on an incredible outfit in a few minutes. I consider that bold in the sense that if I try to get ready that quick, it just looks like I got dressed in the dark.

If you're interested in FBFF, go to Modly Chic for more information then e-mail Katy if you want to join the group.

What I'm Loving...

After a more brutal than usual winter, I'm trying to really enjoy the summer (even with the ridiculous heat). So far, so good. I'm sure it'll pass. Technically summer has barely started. And yesterday it rained so, um, maybe that'll cool it off for 5 seconds. Ok, can't think about it or the heat will annoy me again. Onward.
Here's what I'm loving:

Swimming Pool
weheartit
In the spirit of trying to enjoy the summer, we're attempting to use the pool in our subdivision more. No, it's not that pretty, but it's a pool and last year I think we only went twice. Not good. We've already beaten last year's record, so this summer is looking more promising!

Essie Coat Azure

Essie describes this color as "a breathtaking medium blue with shimmer" but that description doesn't really do it justice. What really sold me was seeing the color featured on ALU's 365 of Untrieds. After seeing how gorgeous the color was (and she pointed out it's a true azure blue, one of ADPi's colors - my sorority in college) I pretty much ran out to Ulta to get a bottle. This is the color in my What I'm Wearing... post yesterday and a lot of you seemed to like it too!

NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipstick
No joke, while I was in Ulta to grab the Coat Azure, I checked Twitter and saw that Taj from Gorgeous Glam had Tweeted about how amazing her NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipstick in Sparkling Rose was. Um, I know a sign when I see one. After my mad dash to the Essie displays, I headed over to the NYX section to pick up Sparkling Rose (and another color - they were Buy 1 get 1 for 50% off. I also know a good deal when I see one). They're sparkly, shimmery lipsticks. I think I've discussed how much I love those. Several times.

Manchester Orchestra - Simple Math
What if you were crazy, would we have to listen then?
What if we've been trying to get to where we’ve always been?
What if I was wrong, and started trying to fix it?
What if you believed me? Everything is brilliant.
I've liked all the Manchester Orchestra songs I've heard before but I completely love Simple Math. I love the melody, the lyrics are amazing - I've had it on repeat in iTunes ever since I bought it.

Ok, so that's What I'm Loving right now! What about you?

What I'm Wearing...

Shirt - Eddie Bauer, Tank top - American Eagle, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - Dr. Scholl's, Sunglasses - Chloé, Earrings - c/o Guy and Eva, Bracelet - Marc by Marc Jacobs, Watch - Michael Kors
You know how some things end up being harder to wear than you anticipated? Meet this shirt. It's too sheer to wear by itself, and it's too hot to really be wearing layers right now, so I went on the search (in my closet) for a tank or cami that was also thin enough to wear under it. This proved to be more difficult than you would think, but the 3rd try was a charm. Or something.
Nail polish - Essie Coat Azure
I got this bracelet from the Net-a-Porter clearance sale. $78 bracelet marked down to $23, plus I had a credit at Net-a-Porter. Yeah. Ridiculous.
One of my friends sent over these earrings from Guy and Eva. I'm obsessed with them and can't wait to tell you more! That'll be later this week.
When I got these sunglasses last week and showed them to Jared he said "They look like the ones you always wear". I usually wear black sunglasses, and these are raspberry so I wasn't sure where he got that. But in these pictures - they look like the ones I always wear. Oh well.

Hair Products & Deals

Recently I noticed my hair dryer was starting to not work as well. Assuming it would die soon, I started looking out for deals. I had considered a T3 in the past, but after reading what Tiffany went through that was out. When I saw Ulta was having some sales, I just decided to go with that.

Hot Tools Dots Dryer
Price: $59.99
Paid: $38.99

Ok, it looks like it's for a kid, but it looks fun, right? It has came with 3 attachments, including a diffuser which I'd been wanting for awhile.
Hot Tools 1 in. Barrel Curling Iron
Price: $49.99
Paid: $39.99

I've wanted a new curling iron for a long time but never got around to getting one, especially after I got my GHD and can curl my hair pretty good with that. I regret not doing this sooner though because the Hot Tools curling iron is pretty great.

Hot Tools 3 Barrel Waver
Price: $44.99
Paid: $0

It was free. I have naturally wavy hair so I'd never buy a waver but - it was free. Why not?

Since I got this stuff a couple of weeks ago, I don't remember how the prices all broke down. I had a 20% off one item coupon, so that went towards something, another item was on sale, and the waver was free since I was already buying something from Hot Tools. You got something for each Hot Tools purchase so I also got some Styling Iron cleaner by Hot Tools as well. Ulta usually has free shipping, does 3 free samples, and had a bag of samples available this week as well. I have an Ulta Rewards card so I got points for everything. (Rewards cards at almost any store are free, that's why I always recommend them for stores you shop at regularly. You have nothing to lose and will get something out of it eventually.) When you added up the value of everything plus the free stuff, it came out to over $200 worth of products for $85 after tax. Point being - when you know you need a couple of things, start looking for sales and deals at stores you like. It pays off :)

Friend Friday - Food

The Fashion Beauty Friend Friday group was created by Katy over at Modly ChicEvery week Katy puts together a set of questions and on Friday if you want to participate, you answer them on your blog and link back up at Modly Chic

Share the recipe to your favorite seasonal dish, the one you love to make and love to eat this time of the year.
This is a well known fact, but I'll state the obvious again - I. don't. cook.
Don't like it, don't want to learn, don't do it. And at this point in life I've embraced that I don't like it, don't want to learn, and I'm not going to do it. But it does say to share your favorite seasonal dish, and I'm not a bad sport so here you go:

Pomegranate Martini
2 parts Pom juice
1 part Stoli vodka
1 tablespoon of simple syrup
Lime wedge

More than 2 of these and you're going to want to add 2 Tylenol and a big glass of water before you go to bed. I'm just saying. Drink responsibly, kids.

If you're interested in FBFF, go to
Modly Chic for more information
then e-mail Katy if you want to join the group.

What I'm Wearing...

Shirt - Express, Belt - Old Navy, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - BCBGirls, Bracelets - House of Harlow and Express, Earrings - Express, Clutch - Curly in the City
Nail polish - Sinful Colors Dream On and Sally Hansen Rockstar Pink

A few things:
1. Taylor's clutches are amazing. So perfect for summer and finally, a clutch that's a size where I don't have to empty out my entire bag to fit a few essentials. Love, love, love.
2. The wedges are BCBGirls. Remember BCBGirls? Maybe not, because it doesn't exist now -  it's BCBGeneration. Yeah, I bought those shoes in... 2004 I think. They were on clearance so I figured why not? It's not like I'll wear them for years, right? Wrong. I love when I'm wrong about stuff like that.
3. I'm calling this "The $4 Manicure." A bottle of Sinful Colors is $1.99 and the bottle of Sally Hansen was on sale for $1.93. $4 Manicure it is. And I'm obsessed with it.

What I'm Loving...

I'm not sure what it is about summer, but one second I'm really motivated to do 50 things at once and the next second it's hot and I want to take a nap. Yeah. Probably shouldn't confess how often I feel lazy. Too late now...
Here's what I'm loving:

Feather Extensions
I'm not going to talk about them again, just know the obsession lives on.

Chanel Glossimer in Aurore

This came out with Chanel's summer collection and is one of the more unique colors they've come out with in awhile. It's a pinky/gold/peachy color but it becomes absolutely gorgeous when you layer it over a coral lipstick. Putting this over MAC's Jazzed has quickly become my favorite summer lip combo.

New Workout
Yeah... that's still not working. As thrilled as I was to complete the 30 Day Shred (and believe me, since it took, like, 60 days - I was thrilled), I've learned I do better when I have something specific to stick to. I like to swim when we go to the pool, and I've downloaded a few yoga and pilates workouts from DirecTV, but I'm open to suggestions. I think I could really get into some of the yoga and pilates, but I don't know how much good that's going to do with trying to lose weight. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Lady Gaga - You & I
It's been a long time since I came around
Been a long time but I'm back in town
And this time I'm not leaving without you
So far this is the only song I've bought off of Lady Gaga's new album and I'm not sure if I'll get the rest because I doubt it can top this.

Ok, so that's What I'm Loving right now! What about you?

Make-up Brush Overview - Miscellaneous Brushes

To finish up, I put all the miscellaneous brushes and tools I love. You didn't think this would take 3 posts, did you? Yeah.

Lip Brush
I rarely use a lip brush. For most lip colors and glosses, it's not needed. If you're doing a red lip or a dark lip, you need more precision so a lip brush is the way to go. Even better - get a retractable one so you can toss it in your purse for touch ups.

Lash Brush/"Spoolie"
A spoolie is great for your brows. Since that's the only thing I use it for, I'd say invest in a cheapie or even cheaper, disposable mascara wands. It's the same thing.

Metal Lash Comb
I know a lot of lash combs are those plastic ones. They're useless. Get a metal one. And if you're worried you're going to poke your eyes out with a metal lash comb, close the eye your combing and keep the other one open so you can see what you're doing :)

Tweezers
You'll notice for everything so far, I haven't named brands - but for the next 2 I am. Get Tweezerman tweezers. They're amazing and the company will sharpen them for life so you only have to buy one pair. Ever. For your entire life.

Eyelash Curler
It's a little harder to get in the US now, but you can order it online - the Shu Uemura eyelash curler is the only way to go. I bought my first one about 8 years ago, lost it in one of my moves, tried a couple of replacements then bought another Shu. Best. Ever.

Ok, that's it for all the brushes I love! Comment with some of your must haves :)
