Camera Recs - I'm always asking for help, aren't I?

we♥it
It's come to my attention recently (and by recently I mean about a year ago but I'm lazy) that my digital camera needs to be replaced. It's been even more obvious lately, and probably would have been smart of me to ask for one for Christmas but when have I ever done things that make sense? Never, that's when.
Anyway.
So, I need recommendations. What do you use, what do you wish you had, all of it. Both point and shoot and DSLR recommendations are appreciated. If I can find a reasonably priced point and shoot that a lot of people love, I'll probably go ahead and get one. I'd love to have a DSLR so if I can figure out which one of those I should invest in, it'll go on the birthday list and I'll make do with what I have now.
Thanks, and I promise to try and quit asking for advice so much. Except I kinda don't because this is such a good way to get lots of opinions on something and I love that. :)

parallel lives. the zoom snapped on my point and shoot, but in its defense it was a great camera and lasted over two years. it's a canon powershot sx 210is.

a good person to ask about this is taylor curly in the city. she has an slr and point and shoot that has slr features and her pics are really good.

i'm useless at this stuff. and now my camera's done too. prepare for an onslaught of instagram? or just a continuance...uh-oh.

ps-chef's sacked out in bed. today i played maid while he texted requests from the back of the house to the front where my office is. this is the truth. help.me.

almost all bloggers seem to use and love the dslr, so i'm sure that's a really good one. i want the nikon 1 j1 digital camera, though. ;)

I actually like my Canon Elph for point and shoot. Though I have a DSLR, I still use my point and shoot at night and on excursions and it shoots well.

I love my DSLR but I'm so new to it so I don't yet feel qualified to give advice in that regard.

Well I bought a Nikon "Nikon COOLPIX L120 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 21x NIKKOR Wide-Angle Optical Zoom Lens and 3-Inch LCD", it's the closest thing to a DSLR but is still a point and shoot. I love it (but I cheat and use the auto modes instead of manual, ha ha)

We just replaced our point and shoot and bought a DSLR. The p&s is a Canon elph 300 and so far I really like it, it takes pretty good low light pictures and is easy to use. The dslr is the Canon rebel t2i and my husband picked it out because of features reviews and price, its going to take me a long time to figure out how to use though

I have both. Love my Nikon DSLR but I use my point and shoot when I'm going to a party or out at night. Let us know what you choose! :) xoxo

I really like my camera. It’s a Canon SLR ( http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_rebel_xs_18_55is_kit ).

It’s an entry level slr, but I like having the ability to upgrade it with a different lens pack (it was suggested by an instructor that I start with a base model, so that I have the ability to upgrade the lens- which Canon makes it very easy to do).

I would really suggest an slr… and having the ability to shoot manually, rather than auto (to get the exact look you want).

I use the Canon Powershot SX130 and have to say I love it. It's fairly inexpensive when it comes to comparing good cameras. It has everything you would need including video recording. Also, for the fashion blogger, it is amazing because it will take 10 shots in a row using the timer. So no need to run back and forth when you are stuck taking your own pics. - Katy

My mom has a Canon... Something... That I use for most of my photos. Point-and-shoot wise, I still love my little Sony Cybershot!

I have the Cannon T2i and have loved it! But now my husband of course wants bigger and better, so the Cannon 5D Mark II. I love the T2i though, it's awesome! :)
