Friend Friday - One Time Use

 Friend Friday
The Fashion Beauty Friend Friday group was created by Katy over at Modly Chic. Each week there is a theme or a set of questions and on Friday if you want to participate, you make a post on your blog and link back up at Modly Chic

This week we're talking about the "one time use" phenomenon.

1. Are you a one-time wearer?
I try to change something so I'm not wearing the exact same outfit twice. Shoes, accessories, just something. As far as outfits that I put on the blog, I don't make an outfit post unless it's different enough from something in the past. Or I try to, anyway. I obviously can't just wear something from my closet one time and then never touch it again, so I try to figure out different ways to incorporate it so I don't get bored with it.
2. Do you feel the need to purchase something new for an evening out or a special event?
It depends on what it is. I wouldn't say I feel like I need to, but sure, there's times I want to.
3. Re-mixing is something a lot of bloggers are proud of being able to accomplish - are you a re-mixing pro or do you shy away from posting items frequently? Why?
The picture above is the collage of my 30 for 3o outfits, which I'm sure a lot of you remember. I'm not a pro, but I did manage to do it once. Not sure I could/would do it again!
4. Do you have a clothing budget or are you an impulse buyer?
Somewhere in between. I shop much easier as an impulse buyer - seeing something I want, knowing it's what I want, and buying it. If I ever go in search of something specific it takes me forever. Of course I always keep in mind what's a good amount to spend, for me. You know the Sex & the City episode where Carrie says that when she sees something she wants in life, she figures out a way to make it happen? It's kind of like that. Give me some time and I'll figure out a way. With clothes, and most anything else.
5. Do you find yourself bored when reading a blog in which clothing items are often remixed and appear frequently?
No, not at all. No one can wear something new every single day, it's not realistic.

If you're interested in FBFF, go to Modly Chic for more information then e-mail Katy if you want to join the group.

Zoya Fleck Effect Top Coats

After the Essie top coats came out, I figure it was a matter of time before other brands caught on. Zoya was the next to jump on the bandwagon.
The Zoya Fleck Effects collection has 3 different colors:
Maisie
Zoya Nail Polish in Maisie can be best described as a sheer turquoise blue base with reflective Mylar flakes that shift from green to blue? A fun flake glitter topcoat that can be layered over any shade to create a fascinating 3D effect.
Opal
Zoya Nail Polish in Opal can be best described as a sheer green base with reflective Mylar flakes that shift from bright green to blue.? A fun flake glitter topcoat that can be layered over any shade to create a fascinating 3D effect.
Chloe

Zoya Nail Polish in Chloe is a sheer coral pink base with two types of duochrome Mylar flakes: red-orange to gold and gold-green to blue. A fun flake glitter topcoat that can be layered over any shade to create a fascinating 3D effect.

Top coats are different than full out glitter polishes. They're not opaque, so you layer them over another polish. You get the sparkle of a glitter, plus a 3D effect, and it's infinitely easier to remove, though. So far I have one Zoya Fleck Effect, but I have a feeling more will be in the future!

What I'm Loving...

It's getting to be the time of year where I can't stop thinking about vacations. We're hopefully going to the beach this summer, and somewhere for our anniversary, but I think another trip needs to happen before then. Anyone else have any vacations planned?
Here's what I'm loving:

OPI Fly
I picked up 2 nail polishes from the Nicki Minaj collection and this one is definitely my favorite. It's a gorgeous teal, and even though I have plenty of polishes in the green and bluef family I have nothing like this.

Scramble With Friends

I used to be obsessed with Words With Friends. Now it's Scramble, which is possibly more addicting since you play the rounds so fast.

Mindy Kaling - Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
I'll admit this wasn't as hilarious as Tina Fey's Bossypants, but it's still pretty funny.

Joshua Radin - Paperweight
Come daylight
And I give up
I let you win
You win 'cause I'm not counting

With one of my iTunes birthday gift cards I bought a whole lot of Joshua Radin, so you can expect a lot of that in the next few weeks. This is gorgeous, and calming, and about a million other things.

Ok, so that's What I'm Loving right now! What about you?

Mad Men

Anyone else glad Mad Men is finally back? We watched all 4 seasons on Netflix and DVD leading up to the premiere, which was good. You forget some of the details, especially with such a big gap in between seasons.

Who else watched Mad Men?

March Photo A Day

Someone you talked to today - can you tell he was happy I thought to take this at 10pm once I realized I hadn't done it yet?

Fork - is there a way to make a picture of a fork interesting? I couldn't find one.

Sign - this is hanging in our bedroom. I love it, even if it is cheesy.

Clouds - pictures like this always turn out looking good, with no effort. I like that :)

Car - since my car already ended up in my neighborhood picture earlier in the month, I did this one from the interior. (While parked, of course.)

Sunglasses - these are the sunglasses I got for my birthday 2 years ago and they're still the ones I wear 90% of the time. Love, love, love.

Green - green was an obvious pick for the St. Patrick's Day photo. This was the green I wore, and several people tried to tell me it didn't count. Huh? Is there a rule about wearing a certain amount of green? I don't think so.

A corner of your home - yes, there's 7 candles in this one corner. I just noticed that. I'm a little obsessed.

Funny - How I Met Your Mother. One of my favorite shows.

Before/after - needs no explanation. Oh, except I think we were watching Mad Men (catching up before the new season) this night and you have to drink while watching Mad Men. Ok, you don't, but it does make sense.

What I'm Wearing...

Shirt - Express, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - Express, Earrings - Unknown, Ring - YSL

Saturday was the joint birthday at my parent's house for me and my sister. I like my birthday for the same reason I like any reason at all to celebrate. There's a lot of unavoidable crap in life, so if there's a reason, any reason at all to sit back and have fun, I'm up for it. Pretty simple, right? I tried to think of a nicer way to put that, but unavoidable crap just had a nice ring to it.
On that note, I should just end this post.

Pink.

When we were out on Saturday birthday shopping for my sister, these immediately caught my attention in Gap. I made about 20 not so subtle references that my sister needed to buy these and wear them. A lot. With everything. Because they're hot pink. And awesome.

Well, she wouldn't do it. So I did. What can I say? Hot pink was my favorite color when I was little. I'm sentimental like that.
Ok, I'm not. They're just awesome.

OPI Holland Collection

At my last trip to Ulta, I obviously had to check out all the spring nail polish collections. OPI stood out to me the most, but that's not unusual. There are 12 colors in the OPI Holland Collection:

I Have A Herring Problem, I Don't Give A Rotterdam, Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?, Did you 'ear about Van Gogh?, A Roll in the Hague

Wooden Shoe Like To Know?, Vampsterdam, Thanks A Windmillion, Red Lights Ahead.. Where?, Pedal Faster Suzi, Kiss Me on my Tulips

Normally I always gravitate to greens and blues, but I skipped those in this collection. The blues didn't seem that different from colors I already have and the green... well now I can't remember why I didn't pick that up. Hmm. Maybe I need to go back. Anyway. The 2 colors I got where Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? and Pedal Faster Suzi. Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? is a grape purple with flashes of pink in it. It's hard for a pink polish to grab my attention, but the shimmer in Pedal Faster Suzi did just that. I don't have anything like it, which is rare to see in a pink nail polish so I had to have that one.

Have you picked up any spring nail polishes yet?

March Photo A Day

Up - we had a car picnic at Vulcan Park that night, so I took a picture of, well, Vulcan :)
Fruit - lemon drop martini. What? It has fruit in it.
Your neighborhood - I forgot to take the picture, but earlier in the day I'd taken this one and my neighborhood is in the background. Yeah. Lame. But what can you do?
Bedside - this actually looks different now since my parents gave me this for my birthday :)
A smile - a picture of a picture, and I know it's of me and my sister laughing but it's the first thing that came to mind.
5pm - I was leaving the gym. I really like the way this one turned out.
Something you wore - Missoni for Target flats and my Paula Bianco wrap scarf. 2 wardrobe staples.
Window - this is from our guest bedroom. The view out of the window is just the of our street but I like that the picture has the chest of drawers and all the stuff on top of it.
Red - Tory Burch Revas. And a red rug :)
Loud - this was at Speakeasy the night before my birthday. Obviously not loud at this very moment... ok, I'm not sure it got that loud, but I needed something, so.... March Photo A Day might not be going so well...

Ok, so that's March Photo A Day so far. Anyone doing this that I'm not already following on Instagram?

Half Moon Mani

After seeing a Sephora ad featuring a half moon manicure, and seeing it on a few blogs I decided I had to try it myself. Unfortunately trying to free hand it just made a big mess. I know taping it off would be an easy solution, but I wish I could just do it. Any tips? Practice more? Give up?

Anyone else tried or want to try this?

What I'm Wearing...

Shirt - Express, Tank - Express, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - Missoni for Target, Ring - Express, Earrings - Melinda Maria

I wore this on Sunday when both families came over for my birthday. The shirt is from one of my Express shopping trips and I'm loving it. Also, as promised, the birthday celebration will continue on. My sister is coming into town this weekend and we're having our family birthday on Saturday (her birthday is next week). Birthday month. It's a beautiful thing.

What I'm Loving...

I can't believe the month is half over. I also can't believe my life is so boring that's the only thing I could think of to say. Ok, I can believe that part.
Here's what I'm loving:

Birthday Month
My sister will be in town this weekend and we're doing both our family birthdays on Saturday. Birthday month. It lives on.

Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?
One of the 2 colors I picked up from the Holland Collection. I love that there are subtle pink sparkles in the purple. Fun but not too over the top. Not that over the top has ever stopped me.

Slatkin & Co. Pink Sangria
This is a light fruity smell that isn't too sweet. Like my description? I thought so. I don't like scents that are too sugary/sweet smelling so I'm loving this one a lot.

Company of Thieves - After Thought

And I am not the answer,
I am not the aftermath,
Or picture of the past

I didn't know, know, know

After I bought this on iTunes it stayed on repeat for about 2 days straight. Love it.

Ok, so that's What I'm Loving right now! What about you?
